At 6pm, in the church, Elegia Consort (who last visited St Matthew’s in January at a lunchtime concert) are offering a summer entertainment, with interval refreshments. Two soprano soloists will sing light summery numbers, like Gershwin’s “Summertime” – and a choir, drawn from the London Bach Choir and Sussex choirs, will sing classic Victorian part-songs, like “The long day closes”.
